architectural-elements

While traveling in the ‘tribal areas’ of northwestern Pakistan in the late 1980 I found out that many local mullahs where put under pressure to construct ‘big’ and ‘large’ and ‘modern’ mosques in order to show how faithful their village was; often paid with Saudi money they started building ugly concrete buildings overhead the existing small rural wooden mosques that stood there for centuries. Beautifully carved wooden columns, pillars, architraves, doors and windows were dismantled. There and then I was able to buy such architectural elements and rescue them.

In this category you will see some of those elements

The wood is mostly Himalayan red pine, some cedar wood and juniper wood.
